Coach Wu (@wuchuanfu) demonstrating an effortless Fa Li La (power pull). In Chinese weightlifting practices, this movement most closely resembles the timing and tempo of the actual lift while also building confidence for the athlete on what they can realistically move.
This is a great “lower tech” alternative to practice on days when the body is tired (less stress/impact), when you are lifting and the movement feels off or after your main lift to get in some extra movement practice.
One caveat is that this movement is rather difficult to coordinate. Since it’s introduction to the rest of the world, athletes are eager to insert it into their own practice. If you do decide to adopt this exercise, make sure your power pull resembles closely your actual pull or the skill will less likely have carryover.
