In your mind, where do you rack a power clean/snatch versus a (squat) clean/snatch?

If you’re new to this game, you were probably told that the power variation was racked tall or above parallel of the thighs, and the squat variation was caught in the hole. This is an accurate description but can lead to some confusion as to how the movement is actually executed.

Regardless of if you power or (squat) clean/snatch the weight, the lifter must always meet the bar at whatever level the weight is driven to and either arrest the position (power) or ride it through to the bottom (squat). This will provide accuracy in moving with the weight and will also prevent the bar from crashing down onto the lifter.

Note in the bottom left frame that Christine meets the bar above parallel and then continues to sit through to the bottom. If viewed in real time, it just looks like one seamless movement from start to finish.
