The eyes set the proprioception for the rest of your body. Wherever you look, your body will want to rotate in that direction. A common tendency seen amongst athletes is the line of sight being directed towards the floor. This will often cause the bottom position to be slightly forward — making weights salvageable at lighter loads but resulting in awkwardness as the loads get heavy. Often the athlete is so focused on all the pieces of the lift that they become unaware at where they are looking during the setup. A gentle reminder is all it takes to get them looking at the horizon and make the reception that much smoother.
